Alexandra Logvin is counsel at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, and practises predominantly in the area of commercial litigation, arbitration, international trade and investment law.
She is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and the State University of Belarus. She earned in 2003 a Masters of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa, focused on international commercial arbitration between foreign private investors and states. Following graduations and before her call to the Bar in Canada, she worked as a legal researcher on various international arbitration files for the International Institute for Sustainable Development, the Trade Law Bureau of International Trade Canada, and an international legal firm.
Before her call to the Bar in Belarus in 1998, Alexandra articled at the Economic Court of the Commonwealth of Independent States, where she assisted the Court and the Court’s International Legal Section on numerous files involving the laws of international arbitration. She also practised commercial arbitration, civil litigation and contract law in Belarus for a year and a half as an associate at a law firm and as in-house counsel at a trade company.
Before and after her call to the Bar in Canada, Alexandra has worked on numerous international and domestic litigation and arbitration files involving complex commercial matters, procurement, white-collar crime, anti-bribery and corruption, copyright, as well as high-profile confidential context.
Alexandra has also advised and acted as counsel for sports organizations on numerous sport dispute resolution and arbitration files involving athletes’ status and benefits, including appeals at the Sport Dispute Centre of Canada (SDRCC).
Alexandra publishes on the issues of domestic and international arbitration and litigation. She sits as a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Canada Arbitration Committee. In addition to being a director of OWIT-Ottawa, she also sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council on International Law (CCIL) and the Ottawa chapter of the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA). She is also a member of the Membership Committee of the County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA), and has authored the Parliamentary section of the Canadian Yearbook of International Law since 2003.
Alexandra speaks several languages, including English, German, Russian, Belarusian, and French, and also has a working knowledge of Polish and Ukrainian.
