As the Regional Director, Quebec for Invest in Canada, Tamaïka Jumelle is responsible for identifying, creating, and developing new investment opportunities for global companies in Quebec.
Prior to joining Invest in Canada, Tamaïka worked at Export Development Canada (EDC) for 6 years. As the Program Manager Trade Acceleration Programs, she managed EDC’s participation in pan-Canadian initiatives aimed at supporting high-potential companies looking to diversify into global markets. At EDC, she also held the positions of Trade Advisor, and later Public Affairs Advisor.
Prior to that while based in Montreal, Tamaïka worked as a Consultant in international strategy and investments, developing export plans and legal viability studies for Canadian companies seeking to export and invest abroad, particularly in emerging countries.
Through professional experiences at the Québec Government Office in Paris and as a Trade Commissioner at the Embassy of Canada in Paris, Tamaïka developed a solid understanding of the export challenges faced by Canadian companies. In addition, Tamaïka worked at French President Jacques Chirac’s foundation in Paris, as a Program Officer.
Tamaïka earned a master’s degree in International Trade Law from the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, a Graduate Diploma in International Trade Management from McGill University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Université de Montréal.
An advocate for girls’ education and women’s empowerment, Tamaïka was a Business Mentor with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and provided virtual entrepreneurship and leadership support to young professional women in Nigeria for several years. Two years ago, she completed a five-month temporary assignment with CARE Canada, which brought her to Indonesia and to Zambia, where she contributed to the establishment of an entrepreneurship program within the Mantapala refugee settlement.
A certified Director of Board, Tamaïka is a board member for the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-Ottawa) and is involved with various organizations including the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI) and ELLEvate Women Entrepreneurs (YES Montreal).
